Fairness and Discrimination in Data Science
Data Science Across Disciplines, a research group in the Institute for the Future of Knowledge is offering a short learning programme on Fairness & Discrimination: Data Science (S7022Q). Data engineering, model building, predictions, and classifications are often being done with sensitive and private data. Knowing how to use the data fairly and without discrimination requires a fundamental understanding of these concepts as well as an ability to mathematically represent them. The purpose of this programme is to provide professionals, from diverse backgrounds, with an understanding of assumptions that inform their approach to doing data science and how to conduct analyses of those assumptions to formulate an optimal approach to solve the problem at hand. This programme is ideal for early career professionals in need of upskilling to become Data Scientists as it offers the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical experience.
