The Supreme Court in Zimbabwe in Bulawayo is expected hear a challenge from the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) today regarding its 12 candidates, who were barred from taking part in parliamentary elections due to the late submission of nomination papers. Meanwhile former Zanu PF political commissar Saviour Kasukuwere has filed an application seeking direct access to the Constitutional Court following the dismissal of his appeal by the Supreme Court last week. Kasukuwere seeks to be back on the ballot paper as a presidential candidate after he was removed by the High Court following an appeal by Zanu PF activist, Lovedale Mangwana.Mangwana last month filed an appeal at the High Court challenging the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission’s decision to accept Kasukuwere’s nomination papers. Zimbabwe will hold presidential and parliamentary elections on August. 23.To discuss this further Channel Africa spoke to Professor Arthur Mutambara, Director of the Institute for the Future of Knowledge (IFK).
