Panel Discussion: Africa’s Divergent Views on the Ukrainian Crisis: Envisaging the Future
Africa has been divided on the Russia-Ukraine crisis, with many countries either remaining neutral or opposing condemnation of Russia’s aggression. To unpack this, The Future of Diplomacy Research Group, Institute for the Future of Knowledge at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) held a Panel Discussion: Africa’s Divergent Views on the Ukrainian Crisis: Envisaging the Future. Opening Remarks were given by Dr Oluwaseun Tella, Head of the Future of Diplomacy, UJ’s Institute for the Future of Knowledge. The event was chaired by Professor Arthur Mutambara, Director, UJ’s Institute for the Future of Knowledge. The speakers were Ambassador Liubov Abravitova, Ukrainian Embassy in South Africa; Ambassador Muhammad Haruna Manta, Nigerian Embassy in South Africa; and Professor David Monyae, Director, Centre for Africa-China Studies, UJ. Closing Remarks were given by Dr Anthony Kaziboni, Head of Research, UJ’s Institute for the Future of Knowledge.
