The Institute for Security Studies (ISS) partners to build knowledge and skills that secure Africa’s future. ISS’s goal is to enhance human security as a means to achieve sustainable peace and prosperity. The University of Johannesburg’s Institute for the Future of Knowledge (IFK) is focused on cross-disciplinary research devoted to understanding the relationship between what we know and what will happen to improve both, for everyone. IFK’s mandate is the generation of new knowledge for the advancement of society. In light of the mandates of both Institutes, the ISS and the IFK seek to understand the causes and possible solutions to xenophobia in South Africa.
